Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Skilled experience in robotic programming, working with Yaskawa and Fanuc.
  • Someone who has the drive to learn more than robotic programming.
  • 3+ years related experience in industrial controls system applications related to variable speed drives, Servo drives systems, PLC , HMI and industrial automation systems.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in electrical design, safety system designs including schematics and panel layouts, applying and programming VFD drives, Servo Drives, PLC’s and HMI’s.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in fluid power design, including pneumatic schematics and hydraulic schematics systems, applying and programming drives, PLC’s and HMI’s.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience of controls system applications throughout the project life cycle from initial design concepts through installation and subsequent client support.
  • Ability to design systems utilizing AutoCAD electrical.
  • Extensive knowledge of Allen-Bradley Powerflex drives, Kinetix drives, Studio 5000, Factory Talk
  • View, GuardLogix Controllers, Sensors, Analog sensors, and PLC platforms.
  • Knowledge of Siemens SIMATIC programming desired.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including NEC, NFPA79, UL508A, and UL698.
  • Product and/ or Program development experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes the mechanical design, review customer's requirements, and specifications to determine the optimal controls system solutions.
  • Interfaces directly with Mechanical Engineers, Tooling Designer, and the project manager to support an on time on budget machine delivery.
  • Support procurement and presents status and options as required to maintain budget and delivery schedule.
  • Supports manufacturing to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off.
  • Provide on-site controls system start-up as required.
  • Review project hardware/software for compliance with applicable codes/standards and assure personnel/machinery safety practices are fully implemented.
  • Responsible for meeting project schedule, engineering hour budgets, and customer satisfaction targets for own activities or on a project leadership basis if assigned in support of the assigned project team.
  • Identifies scope deviations early and often and communicates early and often the impact to hardware cost, schedule, resource needs or skill sets to the project manager and department manager.
  • May assist sales by providing project scope definitions, hardware and labor estimates for proposals.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime on occasion to meet customer project commitments.
  • Occasional (typically 30% or less), travel required and work at customer sites.
