Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize CATIA V5/V6 to design and model fixtures for holding vehicle parts during processes such as welding, painting, assembly, and testing.
- Apply knowledge of body part construction, datums, and weld specifications to fixture designs.
- Conduct layout reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure fixtures meet all requirements.
- Prepare and export 3D/2D data for supplier quotations and orders.
- Research and implement improvements to fixturing and related processes.
- Support prototyping needs and assist development groups such as Interior Design and Aerodynamics by creating evaluation models or wind tunnel test models.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to address fixture-related requirements and improvements.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Strong background in fabrication processes (welding, machining, and general fabrication).
- Experience in automotive fixturing and automotive body construction .
- Advanced proficiency in CATIA V6 (parametric parts, surface modeling) and sheet metal design .
- Knowledge of 3D printing is a plus.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and vehicle construction/assembly processes.
- Basic electrical and mechanical skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in related design work.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
