Job Description:


Tool Design & Development

  • Design, develop, and validate assembly tools, fixtures, and equipment for automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create and modify detailed drawings and tooling specifications.


Installation & Commissioning

  • Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of tooling on assembly lines, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to understand assembly requirements and ensure tools are designed to meet operational needs.


Process Improvement

  • Analyze existing tooling and assembly processes to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in tooling design and recommend innovative process improvements.


Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product development, to align tooling strategies with production goals.
  • Provide technical support and training to assembly operators on the proper use and maintenance of tooling systems.


Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed documentation for tooling designs, project progress, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to management, detailing project status, tool performance, and recommendations for future initiatives.


Qualifications


Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tooling design and installation within the automotive industry.
  • Proven expertise in designing assembly tooling, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Autodesk, AutoCAD, Teamcenter).
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with current automotive industry standards and regulations.
