Job Title: District Manager

Job Summary: The District Manager is a pivotal leadership role entrusted with full operational and financial responsibility for the store operations within the designated district. With the authority to drive operational excellence, financial success, and customer satisfaction, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the consistent execution of Store operations. Reporting to the Regional Director the District Manager leads and supports a team of Store Managers and delivers monthly district performance recaps.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources
• Responsible for recruiting and hiring management-level personnel and ensures stores are adequately staffed.
• Regular attendance, punctuality, physical on-site attendance (if applicable), adherence to the Company’s established policies and the team member handbook.
• Responsible for recruiting, hiring and selecting of store level personnel, especially management level
Financial
• Take full ownership of financial performance of stores performance within the district.
• Monitor sales, revenue, expenses, and profitability, implementing strategies to achieve financial goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong understanding of convenience store and restaurant business, general management
• Ability to write, analyze, and evaluate operating report, Profit and Loss statements, internal and external
• Communicate business correspondence in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to relate to a diverse workforce and can effectively influence others throughout the organization
• Ability to work independently and as a team player to leverage relations to accomplish goals
• Highly adaptable to change
• Strong organizational and time management skills are critical
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel); ability and willingness to learn PowerPoint
• Demonstrate ability to work “on-call” schedule
• Clean driving record
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrate problem-solving and time management skills Position Purpose Manage multi-unit operations and personnel to maximize sales and profitability by promoting an effective team approach in a safe work environment that delivers quality customer service.
• Ensures that management coverage and store schedules are set per store labor model
• Complete, with store manager, orientation and training of new team members
• Manages team members fairly and consistently; holds team members accountable
• Administers coaching and corrective documentation to improve performance
• Recognizes positive contributions
• Conducts regular performance appraisals with Store Managers
• Terminates as necessary
• Ensures appropriate merchandise is ordered
• Trains all management on proper order placement and procedures
• Takes corrective action to prevent and resolve inventory losses caused by theft and accounting
• Conducts safe fund audits Safety/Security and Compliance
• Ensures all stores comply with all security, safety, and loss prevention procedures
• Strictly enforces all NACS robbery prevention and security protocols as defined by the company
• Serves as member of the Rapid Response Team to arrive on site during an incident involving injury
• Maintains planograms, correct pricing, marketing, and any changes
• Conducts gasoline and product price surveys as directed • Reviews out-of-stocks and corrects stocking issues
• Reviews pricing and corrects pricing issues, specifically un-priced products
• Reviews and ensures that all promotional advertising is properly placed
• Ensure store is always well-stocked
• Ensures stores visits are completed so each location will meet individual budgets and company goals
• Maintains all locations by performing operational inspections
• Completes and assists store team members in completing daily, weekly, and monthly store and corporate reporting
• Is present, if possible, to walk store with auditors during monthly retail audits
• Ensures control counts are completed as assigned
• Serves as a positive, professional role model, always, for team members
• Resolves customer service complaints
• Coaches and develops managers, assistant managers, and team members Financial
• Responsible for overall profitability of store location including sales, gross profit dollars and margins, shrink, payroll, and expenses
Other Responsibilities
• Sometimes additional responsibilities and duties, as set by the Executive Team of Refuel Operations
• Work with other District Managers on special projects, covering vacations, etc.
Education and Experience:
• At least two years of successful multi-unit store operation or equivalent experience in the industry
• High school diploma or equivalent
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Ensures new team members complete orientation and training (per Refuel onboarding requirements)
• Conducts formal performance reviews with Store Managers on an annual basis, provides regular, ongoing feedback.
Working environment and physical requirements:
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
Travel: Must be able to travel up to 80%.
