The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Consumer Lending serves as a strategic and dynamic leader within the organization, responsible for charting the course for the credit union's consumer lending division. This pivotal role is focused on driving growth, innovation, and operational excellence across consumer loan products, including auto loans, personal loans, and credit cards. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the SVP works collaboratively to shape and implement strategies that align with the organization’s mission, values, and long-term objectives.


This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in consumer lending, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will combine strategic foresight with a hands-on approach to deliver exceptional results, foster a culture of innovation and accountability, and prioritize member satisfaction and financial sustainability.


Responsible and Accountable for:


Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute a comprehensive strategy for consumer lending aligned with the credit union’s growth, member service, and operational goals.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to anticipate challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to ensure consumer lending strategies enhance member acquisition, retention, and overall satisfaction.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the industry, representing the credit union at key events and influencing organizational strategy.

Product Innovation & Development

  • Lead the development, enhancement, and lifecycle management of consumer loan products, ensuring competitive offerings that meet member needs.
  • Champion the adoption of digital lending platforms to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and elevate the member experience.
  • Use data-driven insights and member feedback to refine product pricing, features, and performance.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, diverse team committed to service excellence and achieving lending objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing professional development initiatives and performance management programs.
  • Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles into team operations and lending strategies.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant federal and state regulations, including ECOA, TILA, and Fair Lending laws.
  • Develop and oversee robust risk management practices, including policy updates and proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for auditors and regulators, maintaining the organization’s reputation for compliance excellence.

Financial Performance & Portfolio Management

  • Manage the consumer lending division's P&L, focusing on achieving loan volume, profitability, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Regularly evaluate the health and performance of the loan portfolio, identifying risks and opportunities for growth.
  • Deliver detailed financial and operational reports to the CEO, executive leadership team, and board of directors.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with marketing, IT, finance, and compliance teams to ensure cohesive strategies and seamless member experiences.
  • Build relationships with external vendors, fintech partners, and industry stakeholders to enhance service offerings and maintain a competitive edge.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strategic Visioning: Proven ability to develop and communicate a long-term strategic vision for consumer lending that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Market and Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in consumer lending.
  • Product Innovation and Digital Expertise: Experience in driving product innovation, particularly digital solutions that streamline lending processes and improve member experience.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong grasp of P&L management, loan portfolio metrics, risk mitigation, and financial modeling to support lending profitability.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Expertise in regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and policy development in line with state and federal laws.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, diverse teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled at building strong relationships and aligning strategies across departments and with external partners.


Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Significant experience in consumer lending or financial services and demonstrated leadership developing and/or overseeing lending strategy, risk management, and product development.
