Job Description

A successful candidate will have 6 months – 3 years of litigation experience and will demonstrate a desire to serve the public interest by advocating on behalf of California consumers pursuing claims against car manufacturers and car dealers. The position calls for a hardworking, dedicated, and nimble junior interested in working closely with firm Partners and Senior Attorneys, who will aid in the development of aggressive discovery-driven litigation tactics. The successful candidate will also be able to navigate competing priorities and the needs of multiple stakeholders, both internal and firm clients.


Client offers a unique opportunity for a young attorney to get immediate experience in many phases of litigation, including written discovery, law & motion, oral argument, depositions, and trial preparation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Written Discovery
  • Drafting written discovery, review responses and document productions, participating in e-discovery review of documents
  • Drafting written discovery responses to written requests served on our consumer clients
  • Law & Motion Work
  • Drafting motions related to written discovery disputes
  • Drafting responses to pleading challenges
  • Preparing for and participating in oral arguments in various courtrooms relating to discovery disputes, pleading challenges, case management conferences, and ex parte requests
  • Depositions
  • Attending and defending consumer client depositions
  • Taking percipient witness depositions
  • Vehicle Inspections
  • Attending vehicle inspections with expert witnesses
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for timely reporting and billing for hours worked
  • Further opportunities for a stellar candidate to quickly grow into assisting with dispositive motions, higher-stakes depositions, and trial preparation work
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Partners


QUALITIFICATIONS & SKILLS


  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of the California Bar
  • At least six (6) months of experience as a California licensed attorney, ideally with some litigation experience (Lemon Law not required)
  • Genuine interest in consumer protection and representation
  • Hunger for professional growth, with a “no job is too big or too small” mentality
  • Collaborative and willing to operate in a team-oriented environment
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in MS Office, Westlaw, and Outlook
  • Skilled and decisive problem-solver with the ability to unravel complex issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to track and comply with deadlines in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Willing to learn and apply technology solutions and work in a paperless environment
  • Willing to travel within California as needed for court appearances, vehicle inspections, and depositions
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
