Macdonald and Company are proudly partnered with an entrepreneurial real estate investor and developer based in Scottsdale, Arizona, who are seeking a talented Asset Management professional to oversee their existing - and growing - portfolio of Industrial, Multifamily, and Retail assets.


The firm are a tight-knit group of experienced real estate professionals, with a diverse offering that includes Investments/Acquisitions, Development, as well as a Lending platform.

They own and operate an industrial portfolio, along with a small portion of multifamily, and retail sites that are under development.


The Role

The Asset Management Associate will play a critical role in the strategic oversight, operational performance, and financial success of a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial real estate assets. This position requires a professional with experience in asset management and a proven ability to drive portfolio growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background and the ability to navigate complex challenges while fostering collaboration across teams.


Role Responsibilities

Strategic Management:

  • Develop and execute asset-specific business plans and portfolio strategies to maximize value creation and achieve targeted returns.
  • Evaluate market conditions and identify opportunities for growth, repositioning, or operational improvement.

Financial Oversight:

  • Monitor asset-level and portfolio-level financial performance, including NOI, cash flow, and ROI metrics.
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, to support strategic decisions.

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee property managers, ensuring adherence to performance standards, operational efficiencies, and tenant satisfaction.
  • Provide direction on lease negotiations, capital expenditure projects, and cost optimization strategies.

Cross-Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including acquisitions, finance, and property management, to align on goals and execution.

Problem Resolution:

  • Address performance issues proactively, including managing challenging conversations with subordinates, property managers, or other stakeholders.
  • Resolve operational challenges with a hands-on approach as needed.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and lender requirements across the portfolio.
  • Prepare and present detailed asset management reports to senior leadership.

Market and Industry Insight:

  • Stay updated on market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory changes that could impact asset performance or strategy.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance portfolio positioning.
