Job Responsibilities
- Electrical Panel Design and Upgrade
- Assess and upgrade existing electrical panel designs to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Robotics engineers to ensure seamless integration of the electrical panel with the robot’s systems.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
- Implement and document designs following industrial electrical and functional safety standards including NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 13849.
- Manufacturing and Process Development
- Manufacture/prototype the system and iterate the design and manufacturing process.
- Establish and document manufacturing processes for internal use and eventual outsourcing.
- Instruct technicians or engineers on proper practices for electrical manufacturing.
- Outsourcing and Vendor Management
- Identify and evaluate potential manufacturing partners for outsourcing electrical panel production.
- Define and manage quality assurance standards for outsourced manufacturing.
- Serve as the technical liaison between Contoro Robotics and external vendors.
- Testing and Validation
- Develop and execute testing protocols to ensure the panels meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in prototype and production units.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to ensure the electrical panel supports overall robot functionality.
- Provide technical support during field deployment and customer operations.
Qualification/Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical panel design, testing, and manufacturing.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or EPLAN).
- Hands-on experience with wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical panels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience with safety features of typical industrial robot work cells
- Experience with robotics or industrial robotic automation systems.
- Experience designing and manufacturing custom PCBs for control circuits
- Proficiency in calculating safety circuit performance levels
- Familiarity with outsourcing manufacturing and vendor management.
- Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
- Project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Create documentation of functional safety systems including risk assessments and safety calculations (e.g., SISTEMA)
