Overview:
Coco’s is the restaurant within the members-only club Colette, located on the 37th Floor of the General Motor's Building overlooking Central Park.
We are currently seeking highly skilled and passionate Pastry Line Cooks to join our dynamic team. As a member of our kitchen, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our Michelin Star Chef Philippe Orrico. With a commitment to excellence and a focus on French fine dining, you will be learning from his expertise and contributing to the creation of exquisite culinary masterpieces.
Coco's is currently open Monday-Saturday. The ideal candidate will be able to work 4:00pm - midnight.
Job Responsibilities:
- Executing pastry orders for catered events and accommodating special requests.
- Demonstrating skill in baking pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies.
- Preparing desserts, pastries, confections, ice cream and other related items.
- Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, croissants, or other products.
- Creating enticing confectionery decorations and delicious pastry fillings, as well as keeping abreast of new pastry baking techniques.
- Applying classic pastry baking techniques when preparing traditional pastries.
- Adding novel, creative, and delicious pastry items to the existing selection.
General Requirements and Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a full service, high-volume, fast paced kitchen.
- 2 or more years of experience as a pastry cook, baker, or similar.
- Advanced knowledge of traditional pastry baking techniques.
- Creative ability in designing, decorating, and filling confectionery.
- Passion for details and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work a variable flexible schedule
- Must know and uphold DOH standards
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to handle items that weigh up to 50 lbs.
