The University of Jamestown seeks a full-time Payroll Coordinator in Jamestown, ND to be responsible for managing the payroll process for the University, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees. This role involves data entry, processing payroll, maintaining records, and complying with applicable laws and regulations, maintaining a high-level of customer service throughout the university and consistently demonstrating the support of the University of Jamestown mission.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Prepare and process monthly payroll for all employees and work study students.
- Ensure accuracy of hours worked, overtime, and deductions.
- Record Keeping: Maintain employee payroll records, including time sheets and payroll changes.
- Update and maintain payroll databases and systems.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Assist with audits related to payroll and respond to inquiries from external auditors.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute payroll reports to management.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for tax filings and compliance purposes.
- Employee Support: Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and issues.
- Provide support and guidance regarding payroll policies and procedures.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and systems.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to payroll administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a similar role.
- Knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
