Job Description:
This position is responsible for enterprise data networking designs, services, and support. The position assists infrastructure team members in the support, maintenance, and optimization of core network infrastructure and telecommunications systems. Also responsible for Tier 2 networking support to campus IT operations. These responsibilities will require the candidate to be a Subject Matter Expert across network technologies, services, and additional related components. This position will interact
daily with technology departments, customer support, vendors, IT administration and security personnel, as well as the end users on developing network solutions to meet Galen business requirements. Project management and problem management skills are required to effectively meet Galen College business objectives and Service Level Agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Implement standards for new campus designs and equipment builds
- Complex WAN/LAN designs utilizing best practice switching/routing technologies and topologies. Network impact analysis, modeling, network capacity planning
- Planning and integration of new technologies within a large network environment.
- Engineering consultations of Level III network troubleshooting/problem resolutions, protocol analysis, network troubleshooting/problem determination skills with network trace/capture/analysis software. Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
- Software/hardware device upgrades, LAN equipment configurations/provisioning
- IP addressing, variable length subnet masking, and Quality of Service
- Wide Area Network technology provisioning and configuration (i.e. MPLS, SDWAN, SIP) and WAN equipment configurations for bandwidth rates from DSL to OC9.
- Networking services for ACS, AAA, DHCP, DNS, ICMP and SNMP
- Design and Support for network security technologies and products
- Remote access technologies (i.e. VPN, SSL-VPN, IPSec, B2B)
- Training/Mentoring other IT&S staff members. Problem management skills
- Change management and project management principles
- Occasional travel to support network construction, analysis, and network upgrades
