Full Stack Java Developer – Hybrid in Alpharetta, GA/Birmingham, AL/Chicago, Il/ Dallas, TX/Jacksonville, FL - W2 Only!

Optomi, in partnership with one of the nation’s leading specialized insurers, is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer for a hybrid position out of their one of their hub locations in Alpharetta, GA/Birmingham, AL/Chicago, IL/ Dallas, TX/Jacksonville, FL. This role involves working on cutting-edge applications that integrate with third-party vendors and financial systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, Angular, AWS, and SQL, with the ability to mentor junior developers and perform code reviews.

Experience of the right candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Java (including Java 8, 10, or 17) and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Frontend expertise in AngularJS and Angular 2+.
  • Strong understanding of SQL; experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AWS tools (EKS, S3, SQS).
  • Knowledge of API development and integrations.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to understand complex workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts and ideas.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the insurance or financial industries.
  • Understanding of marketing-to-financial code flows.


Responsibilities of the right candidate:

  • Develop and maintain applications using a 60% backend and 40% frontend split.
  • Create and manage APIs, including handling REST and SOAP calls.
  • Collaborate on a mix of new development and enhancements to existing projects.
  • Work closely with financial and marketing teams to ensure proper functionality for code and data flow (e.g., claims processes).
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
  • Utilize tools and services such as AWS (EKS, S3, SQS), PostgreSQL, and Oracle for development and deployment.
