Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent with a background in military operations, electronics, or manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of materials, components, and services essential for our operations. This role requires a deep understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and quality assurance in a technical and high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Procurement Management :
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to meet company requirements for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Issue purchase orders and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to secure the best possible value.
- Vendor Relations :
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual terms and quality standards.
- Conduct periodic evaluations and audits of supplier processes.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Coordination :
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels and support production schedules.
- Address and resolve supply chain disruptions or material shortages promptly.
- Analyze inventory data to forecast material requirements accurately.
- Compliance and Documentation :
- Ensure procurement activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and applicable regulations, including ITAR and DFARS (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier agreements.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation for audits and reviews.
- Market Research and Cost Control :
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and technology advancements in electronics and manufacturing.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses.
Qualifications :
- Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably in a military, electronics, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with procurement regulations such as FAR/DFARS (preferred for military background).
- Skills :
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across teams.
- Knowledge of electronic components, manufacturing processes, or military specifications is highly desirable.
- Certifications :
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), or equivalent is a plus.
Work Environment :
- Fast-paced, collaborative environment that requires multitasking and attention to detail.
- Occasional travel to vendor locations may be required.
