SUMMARY :
The Product Engineer will perform a variety of engineering activities at WSC. This can encompass product drafting, product development, product testing, and codes and compliance certifications to enhance WSC’s competitiveness in the global arena. This position combines a strong foundation of drafting knowledge, product development, and passion for manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)
- Draft current products into parametrically driven 3D models.
- Continue to enhance product visuals and shop floor prints.
- Coordinate and perform Testing to code and compliance of products. Create the infrastructure and documentation needed.
- Lead in Product development and new product launch process.
- Develop and maintain an ECN process for the Engineering swim lane.
- Product life Management- Product lifecycle and document maintenance.
- Design for Manufacturability, DFMA
- Field performance
- Participation and possible leadership roles in moderate project-level assignments within responsible product family and/or initiative set forth by design / market / manufacturing strategy.
A PRODUCTION INTERN WILL POSSESS AND DEMONSTRATE:
- A fundamental understanding of Lean Principles, Problem Solving Skills, and Manufacturing Processes
- Must have the ability to work both alone and in a group
- Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining solid communication skills both verbally and especially by e-mail
- Ability to maintain positive moral within the workforce
- Enthusiasm and have a positive approach to problem-solving
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- BS in Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technology degree from an accredited university or
- Associates degree in Drafting and Design with additional work experience also considered.
- 0-3 years of experience in Engineering / Manufacturing with focus on product design and development process
- Experience applied in the fenestration industry a plus Windows, doors, glass code compliance / product testing (AAMA/ASTM), impact development, product development, applying strength of materials and use of CAD and modeling tools a must; AutoCAD, Solid Works, Inventor- preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage mid-level projects
- Ability to work solely and with cross functional teams in the organization
- Must be able to organize, plan, present and facilitate projects and organizational goals
- MS Office computer skills are essential, database development and management are a plus
- Self-starter with sound written and oral communication skills
WORKING DEMANDS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- 40 hours per week, working 8am-5pm
