Position Overview:

As the Mechanical Project Manager , you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects. You’ll manage all aspects of the project lifecycle—from design and budgeting to installation and commissioning. You will work closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery. This role requires a strong background in mechanical systems, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee mechanical systems installation, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical components, on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, including engineers, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Review and approve project plans, submittals, and change orders, ensuring alignment with contract specifications and project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns, and managing expectations.
  • Monitor project performance, identifying risks or potential delays, and proactively implementing solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety and quality standards.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including RFIs (requests for information), submittals, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure project quality, schedule adherence, and safety compliance.
  • Mentor and support junior project managers, engineers, and field staff, providing guidance and leadership to help them succeed.
  • Track and report on key project metrics, including budget, schedule, and performance, to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical project management, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical construction processes, including design, installation, and commissioning of HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical system codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to resolving issues.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, financial tracking, and cost management.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites within Northern Virginia.
