Sr. Project Controls Specialist

Scott Humphrey Corporation has partnered with a growing and reputable construction firm that is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Project Controls Specialist to join their team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil and industrial construction, with a strong background in cost control, scheduling, risk management, and progress tracking. This role is critical in ensuring project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to schedules.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or other scheduling tools.
• Monitor and control project costs, budgets, and forecasts to ensure financial alignment.
• Implement and maintain systems to track project progress, productivity, and performance metrics.
• Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate and document project changes, ensuring accurate cost and schedule impact analysis.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on project status, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for stakeholders.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 7+ years of project controls experience in civil and industrial construction projects.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, SAP, MS Project, and cost control tools.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, cost estimating, and project execution strategies.
• Ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
• Certifications such as PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) are a plus.
