Job Title : I/E Technician
Location : East Chicago, IN 46312
Pay: $40-45/hour
Duration : 2-6 months (possible contract-to-hire)
Work Schedule : Onsite (M-F, 8-5pm)
Job Description
- Comply with all plant environmental, health, safety, and process safety standards and procedures. Report hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
- Comply with all Company policies, procedures and quality standards as well as participate in quality and process improvement initiatives as required.
- Operate forklift and powered industrial trucks.
- Maintains timely compliance on all safety, health, environmental, and training initiatives.
- Provides assistance to other crafts and production groups with process and systems troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot process control and electrical systems
- Installs, connects, disconnects, removes, tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic measuring, controlling, recording, and indicating systems and equipment.
- Disassembles instruments and equipment, and inspects components for defects; repairs, replaces component parts, and reassembles.
- Performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance as required to maintain equipment in optimal condition
- Performs general housekeeping and maintains orderliness
- Prepares and uses sketches, diagrams, blueprints, and other drawings.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduits and raceways.
- Pulls wiring through conduit and other raceways.
- Performs disconnects, reconnects, installs, removes, troubleshoots, and generally maintains motor control, process control, burner control, and electrical distribution devices and systems.
- Familiar with the NEC and NFPA 70e and can use the book as reference.
- Fabricates and terminates electrical/instrument panels, junction boxes, and cabinets
- Working knowledge of PLC’s, variable frequency drives,
- Supports Maintenance Excellence and Productivity initiatives.
- Participates in training initiatives to maintain and improve skills
Required Skills
- Candidates are required to successfully pass testing
- It requires an ability to read, comprehend, and interpret schematics, loop drawings, P&ID’s and other technical resource manuals.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and conversions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively to functional levels within the organization.
- All employees have Environment, Health and Safety roles and responsibilities, and are accountable for achieving compliance with our EHS Policy, including Emergency Preparedness and Response as defined in site-wide documentation.
- An I/E Tech may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, work overtime, and work holidays as business dictates.
- Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required.
Required Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience working with commercial or industrial instrumentation OR a minimum 3 years of related experience working as a commercial or industrial electrician.
- Academic degree in related technology is a plus OR documentation supporting completion of acceptable training for an electrician. eg. Journeyman program, or trade school, or qualified in-house program
- The I/E Tech position requires technical and practical knowledge in the field of Electricity and Instrumentation.
