We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a well-respected community health organization based in New York City. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally sensitive healthcare to underserved populations and fostering a healthier and more equitable community.
About the Role
The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing the organization’s financial strategy, operations, and compliance. This role is critical in ensuring financial sustainability and supporting the organization’s mission-driven programs.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in nonprofit financial leadership, healthcare finance, and strategic planning, as well as the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as adherence to grant and funder requirements.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and board of directors, enabling informed decision-making.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead the finance team, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
- Analyze financial trends and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency, revenue generation, and cost savings.
- Partner with program leaders to support fiscal planning for service delivery and community initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- CPA certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles within nonprofit or healthcare organizations.
- In-depth knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, grants management, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance, including government funding streams, reimbursements, and revenue cycle management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain a commitment to the organization’s mission.
