Hybrid in Bremerton - it's not that far! You can commute via the Seattle passenger fast ferry (30 minutes) and KCU's Harborside HQ is across the street from the ferry terminal.


The Vice President of Human Resources (HR), is responsible for aligning our human resources programs and initiatives with the overall business objectives and ensuring effective HR operations. This senior role will oversee, plan, lead, and develop the policies, programs, and staff of the Human Resources and Learning and Development functions, ensuring legal compliance and the implementation of our mission and talent strategies.

As a senior strategic business partner in charge of HR operations, the VP will role model and champion human resources values and programs, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, talent management, employee lifecycle management, policies and procedures, data management, and compliance and risk management.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Business Partner: Partner with the Chief People Officer and senior leaders to develop functional vision and goals in line with the organization’s overall strategy. Shape the future of the business by building cross-functional relationships and a deep understanding of business goals and objectives. Continually seek innovative ways to improve the employee experience and engagement. Lead and manage large-scale change initiatives. Utilize data and analytics to inform strategies. Translate organizational strategy into goals and tactics to deliver results. Stay aware of trends and understand how they impact the organization’s direction.
  • People Leadership: Provide operational and strategic leadership for the Human Resource and Learning and Development Teams. Balance leadership and management to help the team grow. Ensure operational focus and effective results. Develop succession plans for key roles and foster team development. Role model inclusive leadership behaviors and cultivate a sense of belonging. Maintain a growth mindset regarding personal learning and organizational knowledge and skillsets.
  • Results Driven: Ensure resources are fully utilized and achieve intended outcomes. Partner with peers and their functions to achieve goals. Demonstrate operational excellence and the ability to delegate, manage, motivate, and provide resources. Identify and remove barriers quickly. Capitalize on new information to address issues promptly. Make decisions from both a functional and cross-functional perspective.
  • Critical thinking: Identify the underlying causes of complex problems. Demonstrate the ability to analyze at the organizational level. Understand tradeoffs, brings innovative thinking and perspective. Comfortably navigate uncertainty. Is proactive in bringing original ideas forward and comfortable representing a different point of view with other senior leaders.
  • Operational Management: Oversee human resources operations. Leverage technology and innovative solutions to improve the employee experience and operational effectiveness. Identify and monitor key operational metrics and address gaps as needed.
  • Talent Management: Partner with CPO to develop leadership programs to nurture and develop future leaders. Collaborate with business leadership to ensure the organization has the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed to execute its’ strategy.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture: Maintain focus on initiatives that improve the employee experience and engagement.
  • Benefits Administration: Oversee employee benefit programs, including enrollment, compliance testing, administration, and vendor management. Facilitate 401(k) committee meetings to ensure compliance and fiduciary responsibility. Develop strategies and tactics to improve employee engagement and manage cost.
  • Performance Management: Oversee the annual performance and pay programs, ensuring timely facilitation and submission of team member reviews and wage/salary information.
  • Compensation Analysis: Perform compensation analytics, research job requirements, and evaluate position descriptions to ensure competitive salaries and benefits. Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine FLSA classification and appropriate salary ranges. Benchmark jobs against survey data and market information to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Policy Development: Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines. Communicate and enforce organizational values. Partner with leaders to develop standards that promote efficiency and mitigate risk. Lead efforts to update and maintain the employee handbook.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all government and labor legal requirements including EEO, ADA, FMLA, DOL, Unemployment, and L&I.
  • Data Management: Oversee the data integrity and design of the HR database and administer reports to analyze HR functions and team member resources.
  • Employee Relations: Provide expertise in complex employee relations.


Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience in organizations with innovative HR practices and at least 5 years of leading a team and experience leading multiple HR functions
  • Deep subject matter expertise in two or more HR disciplines.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective HR strategies that align with business objectives
  • Proven track record of building relationships, influencing others, and effectively communicating at all levels across the organization and with external vendor partners
  • Experience with embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into people practices and personal leadership.
  • Experience leading large-scale and/or complex change.

Compensation:

$173,633 - $260,000 + 15% bonus potential

Starting salary is based on experience and will likely not exceed mid-point $220,000
