Job Title:Medical Lab Tech

Location: Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Shift: 5x8, M-F (3p-11p) OR 4x10, Th-S (8:30p-7a)

Duration: 13 weeks

Job Summary:

-Instructs patients in preparing for tests that require fasting.

-Answers patient questions regarding the tests.

-Maintains equipment and investigates problems with equipment.

-May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees.

-May monitor daily operation of laboratory section or work area.

-May participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.

-Performs a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.

-Prepares specimens, resolves specimen problems, and performs analytical tests.

Required Education:

-Associate's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

-If Associate's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science then must have ASCP OR MLT (AMT) board certification.

Schedule Notes: Candidate must have gram stain experience, previous automated Microbiology system (Kiestra or WASP) preferred, this is NOT a bacteriology plate reading and AST.
