DRT Holdings is looking to add a Manufacturing Engineer to our facility in Sidney, OH working within our Aerospace division.
Summary:
Plans and designs manufacturing processes for multiple manufacturing processes. Determines parts, materials and tools needed to achieve sales and manufacturing goals according to product specification. Supports transition of new work into production.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret customer drawings to determine manufacturing methods and sequences.
- Ensure proper specifications are on hand to effectively understand customer requirements
- Consult with outside vendors, and site manufacturing personnel, engineers, and quality as necessary to discuss and determine the optimum way to manufacture and cost parts
- Manufacturing process development, router creation, and BOM creation
- Estimate set-up and run times
- Determine material usage “gross and net material requirements”
- Work with Purchasing to obtain quotes from OSP’s for raw materials, plating, heat treat, etc.
- Obtain tooling and fixturing lead-time and costs estimates, as necessary
- Maintain all quote records in applicable location
- New product introduction (NPI) support
- Must be able to travel approximately 10% of time
Qualifications Required:
- Knowledge of machine tools and various manufacturing processes (milling, turning, laser cutting, brazing, stamping, etc.)
- Project management experience
- Strong Continuous Improvement skills
- Effective at professionally communicating to all areas, inside and outside of the organization.
- Knowledge of various material types (titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper alloys, etc.)
- Reading and interpreting drawings and technical information, including by not limited to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products
- AutoCAD, MasterCam or NX CAD/CAM experience
- Detail & Task driven work ethic
Qualifications Preferred:
- Knowledge of AS9100/ISO quality standards in a production environment
- Statistical process control
- Experienced in creating and maintaining standard work
Education & Experience Requirements:
- BS degree in engineering with manufacturing experience in machining and/or fabrication
- 2-5 years of experience, aerospace industry preferred but not necessarily required
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience working in a shop with an AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality system.
Language Requirements:
- Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Technical & Mathematical Skill Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret customer engineering drawings and specifications, and interpret into manufacturing processes.
- Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions
- Uses simple formulae, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules
- Checks reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge
Reasoning Ability:
- Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Work would be in an office environment and manufacturing facility environment
