Title: Vice President, Accounting Policy
Office Status: Jersey City - 2x a week in office
A global investment bank is seeking a Technical Accounting professional to support its U.S. operations, including branches and subsidiaries involved in a variety of sectors such as broker-dealers, lessor entities, and commercial banking. The position involves providing expert guidance on technical accounting issues, drafting and updating accounting policies under U.S. GAAP and IFRS, conducting accounting research, and ensuring compliance with new accounting standards. The individual will also review financial statements, participate in discussions with auditors, and track emerging guidance. This role may involve project management or leading a small team, with final approval of work resting with senior management.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare or review & update U.S. GAAP & IFRS accounting policies
• Conducting transaction reviews & accounting analysis
• Tracking, implementing, and presenting emerging accounting guidance
• Conducting accounting research
• Reviewing financial statements
• Attending industry meetings and conferences
• Leading discussion on accounting policy-related matters related to new products and complex transactions
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of public and private accounting experience in financial services
• CPA license (or equivalent)
• Strong research, analytical, and business writing skills
• Proficiency in technical accounting, including areas such as derivatives, loans, investments, consolidation, transfers of financial assets, guarantees, revenue recognition, leasing, and fair value
