Environmental Engineer
Elizabethtown, KY
Our client, a global leader in automotive glass solutions, is seeking an Environmental Engineer to
develop, coordinate and manage various activities around the Environmental Management System (EMS) at their plant in Elizabethtown.
Principle responsibilities:
- Acts as Site EMS Representative by maintaining the environmental management system
- Ensures compliance for site EMS program including preparing and maintaining monthly reports for Air Emissions, Chemical Inventory, SERC and SARA R reporting
- Ensures compliance with ISO 14001
- Prepares and maintains site contingency plan
- Acts as site Hazardous Waste Emergency Coordinator
- Conducts internal audits and develops corrective action plans
- Inspects facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Ensures compliance to Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP) plan
- Conducts and maintains EMS Training of all site associates
- Manages and maintains site recycling program
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related subject strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years manufacturing environmental experience
- Advanced knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Fishbone, KT, 8D, etc.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret environmental standards and regulations
- Strong process skills
- Ability to develop and present solid presentations to employees at all levels
