Director of Energy
Overview:
An industry-leading energy and sustainability organization is seeking a Director of Energy & Sustainability to lead its client success team. This role focuses on client relationship management, team leadership, and strategic advancement within the energy and sustainability sector for the built environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Customer Support:
- Lead and support the Client Success/Account Management team to ensure consistent delivery of best-in-class customer service and adherence to compliance deadlines.
- Develop training programs, educational materials, and process optimizations to prevent gaps in client service.
- Provide guidance on navigating utility data access, benchmarking processes, and regulatory updates.
- Address customer concerns and drive improvements in overall client experience.
- Collaborate with leadership to set retention goals and align resources with client needs.
Client Relationship Management:
- Oversee and manage enterprise-level client accounts, ensuring superior communication and project management.
- Onboard new clients, ensuring smooth transitions from Sales to Customer Success.
- Provide oversight for energy benchmarking quality control and implementation of services, such as virtual energy assessments and building performance consultation.
- Proactively engage with clients to identify additional needs, encourage product adoption, and explore up-sell opportunities.
Collaboration and Business Growth:
- Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams on new business opportunities and prospecting.
- Provide feedback on client needs to inform software development and additional service offerings.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) and customer engagement templates.
- Support internal teams in ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
- Identify opportunities for client advocacy, including testimonials and case studies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy and/or sustainability fields, with at least 3 years in team and client management.
- Strong preference for candidates with knowledge of energy benchmarking and building performance standards.
- Degree in energy, sustainability, or environmental sciences preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and technology platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts and competing deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to educate others on energy policies and technical concepts.
