*Overview*
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated nursing assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing transportation to our residents to and from their appointments. As a Nursing Assistant, you will also support patients with daily activities, monitor their health, and assist nursing staff in delivering exceptional care.
*Basic Qualifications Education & Certification:* High school diploma or equivalent; completed a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistance program; possess a current certification in good standing or be able to obtain certification within four months of employment, if allowable by the state; must have CPR certification.
*Skills & Requirements:* Must possess the ability to read, write and speak the English language, communicate resident condition to others and make independent decisions as needed; must have a common working knowledge of all rules, laws and regulations as defined by the state as it relates to transportation and skilled nursing services; must be patient, friendly, courteous and respectful to residents in any situation, including difficult ones; must be able to move frequently throughout the workday, answer resident call bells, assist with toileting, feeding and personal grooming of the residents; must be able to handle sensitive situations related to the emotional well-being of the residents with patience, dignity and respect; must be able to lift 40 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 10 lbs. from waist to shoulder; lift and carry 40 lbs.; and push/pull 40 lbs.
*Experience:* Minimum of six months of experience in a long-term care or other geriatric care environment is preferred; must have a valid driver’s license in good standing in the state where employed. Working Conditions Primarily works within a vehicle, nursing department, and throughout the facility; bends, lifts, sits, stands, and moves frequently throughout the shift; deals with frequent interruptions and possibly upset residents and family members; works regularly scheduled shifts with possible weekends, holidays, and other hours based on resident needs; primary responsibility is service to the residents but also deals with visitors, government personnel, etc.; participates in required continuing education programs; subject to odors, falls, burns, and exposure to infectious diseases, waste, etc., including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

*Safety Awareness: Follows safety program guidelines; *immediately reports accidents and incidents to supervisors; identifies unsafe working areas and promptly reports to supervisors; promotes safety by working as safely and efficiently as possible; consistently follows infection control and universal precautions and other guidelines; identifies and corrects or reports hazardous conditions to supervisors; understands facility emergency and evacuation protocols; utilizes safe driving techniques and ensures vehicle maintenance
*Essential Job Duties:*
1. Assists residents with loading and unloading from facility-approved vehicles.
2. Ensures the safe transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities, resident outings, etc.
3. Maintains the interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote a safe and comfortable transport for the residents and project a positive image in the community.
4. Monitors vehicle maintenance logs and delivers vehicle for regularly scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
5. Provides quality nursing care to residents.
6. Answers resident call lights promptly and courteously.
7. Provides cleanliness of water pitchers and provides refills of fresh water as needed.
8. Places water containers within reach of residents at all times to promote satisfactory hydration.
9. Provides assistance with lifting, turning, moving, transporting, or transferring residents. 10. Reduces the risk of bedsores by promptly reporting observations of skin breakdown and pressure areas.
11. Communicates changes and ensures the plan of care is being followed through, effectively recording changes in charts.
