Summary:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in providing advanced nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders, substance abuse problems, and emotional or mental health issues. This position works closely with a multidisciplinary team to offer comprehensive mental health services. The team includes roles such as psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, community health workers or Promotoras, and nurses.

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operating within the scope of practice for mental health nurse practitioners, responsibilities may include the following:

Conducts psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine general physical conditions and mental health conditions.
Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic assessments to provide information on patient's condition.
Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and monitoring their effectiveness.
Elicits and records information about patient's medical and psychological history in the electronic health record.

Education and/or Experience:

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Minimum of two years of clinical experience required in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred with equivalent experience considered
Experience working with FQHC or FQHC look alike settings preferred or equivalent experience working with underserved or marginalized populations welcome
Proficient in electronic medical records and telehealth platforms; EPIC EMR preferred
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to patient-centered care and cultural competence
