Job Summary:
The Plant Maintenance Engineer provides engineering expertise and support for maintenance, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This role focuses on continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant operations to ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety across the facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support maintenance, electrical, and hydraulic teams as needed.
- Prepare and manage work schedules for maintenance personnel.
- Foster a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to all safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Maintenance & Optimization:
- Develop and manage maintenance programs to ensure the reliable operation of plant machinery and equipment.
- Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.
2. Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues efficiently.
- Provide hands-on support to address equipment failures and minimize production interruptions.
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Design and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Use data-driven insights to predict and address potential failures proactively.
4. Project Management:
- Lead or assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and replacements.
- Coordinate projects with internal teams and external contractors, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
5. Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to maintain a secure working environment.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance.
- Prepare and present reports on maintenance costs, downtime, and improvement opportunities.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement, including setup reductions, cycle time improvements, and capacity optimization.
- Participate in lean initiatives, kaizen events, and the implementation of standard work practices.
8. Vendor & Technology Management:
- Collaborate with vendors to upgrade equipment with the latest technology and enhancements.
- Evaluate and implement machine/process improvements to reduce costs and eliminate inefficiencies.
9. Collaboration & Training:
- Work closely with production, quality, and operations teams to align maintenance activities with plant goals.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure a skilled and capable workforce.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
- 3–5+ years of experience in plant maintenance or reliability engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with automated and computer-controlled equipment is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, and automation systems is a plus.
