Job Overview:
Our facility in Anderson, SC, seeks a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage in 2025. This position provides 24-hour call coverage to support the existing team, which currently has one cardiothoracic physician on staff.

Key Details:

• Shift Type: 24-hour call coverage (7 AM - 7 AM)
• Coverage Dates: Sporadic coverage throughout 2025
• Setting: Hospital-based
• Patient Demographics: 100% adult
• Team Composition:
• 1 physician and 1 mid-level provider
• Locum will supervise the PA during shifts
• EMR System: Epic

Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for cardiothoracic surgery needs.
• Perform required procedures, including:
• General cardiovascular and thoracic surgery
• Coronary artery bypass surgery (on-pump)
• Preferred procedures:
• Congenital defect repairs
• Valvular repair and replacement
• Cardiac and aorto-thoracic aneurysm repairs
• Lung resections
• Chest wall or pleural procedures
• Evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues
• Central line, arterial line, PA catheter, and IABP insertion
• Collaborate with hospital staff and mid-level providers to deliver exceptional patient care.

Requirements:

• Education & Certification:
• Board Certified Thoracic Surgeon
• Active South Carolina medical license and DEA
• Experience & Background:
• Clean background check (no exceptions)
• Ability to supervise mid-level providers
