Position Overview:
The Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator will lead and support community outreach and public engagement efforts for a planned light rail corridor in Baltimore, MD (Hybrid - World Trade Center; 3-4 days per week onsite). The role involves co-developing strategies, coordinating stakeholder engagement, managing outreach events, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. We want to fill this position ASAP or by Feb. 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Planning & Coordination
- Co-author public communications and engagement strategies.
- Develop and execute the Red Line Community Engagement Plan.
- Oversee, coordinate, and manage outreach and engagement consultant activities.
- Act as a strategic advisor and liaison between technical teams, developers, and stakeholders.
Community Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct business-to-business outreach with employers, multi-unit residential buildings, and community organizations.
- Plan and conduct outreach events to educate and inform stakeholders, commuters, and residents.
- Create and distribute outreach materials, including newsletters, flyers, and social media posts.
- Prepare briefs, speeches, and talking points for stakeholders.
Event Management
- Provide on-site support at community events, including setup, coordination, and attendee management.
- Ensure events meet safety, accessibility, and regulatory standards.
Project Management & Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, including meeting minutes, reports, and deliverables.
- Track timelines, tasks, and budgets to ensure deadlines and financial goals are met.
- Assist with correspondence, presentations, and internal communications.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate with teams on marketing materials and outreach strategies.
- Record outreach efforts in CRM systems and provide updates to clients through reports and presentations.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Urban Planning, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience :
- 5–10 years in community engagement, communications, or project management.
- Familiarity with transit-related outreach is a plus.
- Skills :
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with CRM software, Asana, Slack, or similar tools (preferred).
- Speech writing and public speaking.
- Bilingual capabilities and equity planning experience (nice to have).
