Job Title: Senior Epic Administration
Location: Rochester Hills, MI
Duration: 16+ Months (Fully Remote) but will need to be local to metro Detroit
Shift: 7:30a-4:00p M-F
Job Overview: Under the general direction of the Project Manager, Manager, or Director, the Senior Epic Administrator formulates and designs the Epic systems security framework based on both user needs and a solid understanding of Epic software's foundational structures, including profiles, roles, menus, and security classes. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in evaluating and providing high-quality business processes and solutions that promote enterprise-wide standardization and efficiency. This role requires bridging the relationship between technical and business stakeholders without compromising the needs of the solution users and the organization's strategic goals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in one or more applications' capabilities and features for users, owners, and administrators of Epic solutions.
- Stay current with new Epic security functionalities across the application(s).
- Coordinate security-related activities across physical, infrastructure, and application teams (Epic and others).
- Collaborate with application coordinators/analysts to make appropriate access decisions and design system-level access.
- Help establish ownership and change delegation guidelines.
- Limit system access to authorized staff.
- Ensure secure remote access is properly configured.
- Ensure that system passwords are changed regularly.
- Establish user passwords at the operating system level, as appropriate.
- Create and configure appropriate security classifications with suitable menus within Epic software.
- Develop and maintain procedures for new users to receive login authorization, passwords, and training on system security.
- Establish procedures for deactivating users who no longer need access to the system.
- Create test scenarios and develop test plans for business application testing to ensure client requirements are incorporated into system design.
- Participate in technical reviews and inspections to verify that the 'intent of change' is carried out throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide support and escalation response for production issues, perform root cause analysis, and lead application resolution efforts.
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in system security or system administration.
- 5+ years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience in at least two major Epic implementations or upgrades.
- Proven ability to document business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Notes:
- May need to attend 2-3 meetings per year
- MUST HAVE experience using basic commands in SQL
- NICE TO HAVE experience with Unix
- NICE TO HAVE experience with different ticketing systems
- Will train on proprietary software that communicates with Epic. Epic experience is not required.
