Job Summary

Seeking a Laboratory Specialist III with 5+ years of industry experience in crude oil testing and laboratory analysis. The role includes maintaining instrumentation, managing laboratory data, and providing technical support for crude oil testing to process technicians. Strong skills in safety, integrity, and communication are essential, along with proficiency in MS Office and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry is required.


Job Description

  • Maintaining local area instrumentation including routine maintenance and SQC
  • Managing laboratory data for the local area.
  • Providing technical support and training for crude oil testing to process technicians in the local area.
  • Performing laboratory analysis (primarily crude oil testing) for custody quality measurement and product quality control.
  • Communicates any problems, discrepancies or other noteworthy incidents to the supervisor or internal customer without delay.
  • Supports and participates in safety programs and meetings
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity in all business dealings


Skills Required

  • 5+ years of extensive industry experience with crude oil testing methods, including ICP metals analysis, high-temperature simulated distillation, and other methods commonly used analysis of crude oil samples, is required in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with Wet Chemistry, API, ASTM, and UOP test methods in the crude oil industries.
  • SQC experience in a laboratory environment, supporting charts and issue identification.
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems experience (Labworks preferred).
  • Possess a strong commitment to personal and job safety.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and be proficient in MS Office applications including spreadsheet and word processing.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, decision-making skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be accountable and self-driven to learn, and to continuously develop and improve his/her skills through both formalized and on-the-job training.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time is required, normally not overnight.


Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry is required.


Pay Rate

  • Starting from $52 per hour based on experience and qualifications.


On-demand schedule:

12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Add'l shifts may come up if the full-time specialist is unavailable or if the workload changes, etc. - Weekend shift 6AM to 6PM or 7AM to 7PM
