Description
The Quality Manager leads the quality department, ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in plant operations. This role develops and maintains processes to ensure finished products meet food safety standards and specifications, while driving effective communication and problem-solving across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily quality and food safety operations comply with regulations and company policies.
- Maintain audit readiness and oversee the food safety and sanitation programs.
- Manage pest control, change control, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Lead investigations into non-conforming events, identifying root causes and resolutions.
- Oversee plant complaint investigations and ensure timely responses.
- Track and report on key quality performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide training on food safety, FSMA, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with R&D for new product introductions, ensuring compliance.
- Lead plant preparedness for customer and regulatory visits and audits.
- Oversee laboratory practices to ensure accurate quality control (QC) results.
- Manage analytical and micro activities, ensuring effective data analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) is effective, applying proactive risk management.
- Prepare work instructions and ensure compliance with food safety and quality policies.
- Lead and mentor staff, conducting performance evaluations and providing coaching.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in food science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-8 years of quality assurance experience in food production or similar industries.
- 1+ year of management experience preferred.
- Certifications in PCQI, HACCP, or SQF Practitioner preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of cGMPs, laboratory practices, and quality control.
