JOB DESCRIPTION
To perform, supervise, and coordinate professional civil engineering work in the field and office, and to perform related work as required. This is a lead/supervisory position. A Civil Senior Engineer is responsible for managing highly visible and sensitive projects, and for supervising subordinate engineering staff performing several projects. A Civil Engineer has the professional responsibility for a wide variety of engineering projects and perform construction management and inspections on private and capital projects; perform contract administration, stormwater permit monitoring and inspections, technical and financial analysis, complex engineering calculations, reviews and research, interpret and implement construction plans and specifications, prepare a variety of reports; and perform other related duties as assigned. A Senior Civil Engineers will lead groups of professionals and supervise technical staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Plans, assigns, trains, instructs, assists, supervises, and evaluates the work of professional and technical staff.
· Lead, supervise, and coordinate various sub-consultants.
· Lead and grow either a regional office or specific market sector.
· Plan, design, and manages individual projects.
· Develops and modifies the design contract documents.
· Prepare design and inspection reports for projects, contract documents, specifications, plans, estimates etc.
· Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with supervisor.
· Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and reviewing bids from contractors.
· Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
· Conducts pre-construction and project status meetings with contractors and monitors project to ensure standards are met.
· Develops budgets and schedules.
· Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
· Coordinates technical review processing and code reviews
· Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
· Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
· Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completions by the defined deadlines and established quality.
· Prepares, reviews, and approves invoices and payment applications.
· Maintains company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
· Marketing and business development including, preparation of proposals, participating in interviews and presentations, and direct interaction with existing and potential clients.
· Active engagement in local technical societies.
· Mentor project engineers and engineers in training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in an engineering curriculum or a field related to the area of assignment.
· Ten years of professional engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Knowledge of CAD is a must.
· Capable of working independently.
· Capable of developing and cultivating client relationships, and exhibits enthusiasm in moving ahead in their career.
