Laser Isotope Separation Technologies (LIS Technologies Inc., or LIST), a US-Based developer of patented advanced laser technology has an immediate opening for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Specialist with CFD experience to lead the design and development of innovative mechanical systems.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in 3D CAD design, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), along with a proven track record of managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet project requirements and deadlines.
Citizenship: US Citizenship with ability to obtain a DOE Q-clearance
Locations: Oak Ridge, TN (Relocation assistance available)
Terms: Fulltime/Onsite
Compensation: $150k - $180k, depending on level of experience

Qualifications:
Experience: Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 10 years in mechanical engineering, with a focus on the nuclear industry (desired).
Mechanical System Design: Lead design and development of 3D-CAD designed mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, and safety standards. Experience with regulatory compliance in the nuclear space is highly desirable.
Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to validate designs and optimize performance.
Analysis and Simulation: Perform FEA and CFD simulations (essential) to assess design integrity and performance under various conditions. Analyze results and iterate designs as necessary.
CFD Software Proficiency: Experience with advanced CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics, OpenFOAM, Siemens Simcenter) for simulating complex gaseous fluid behaviors.
Adiabatic Process Modeling: Strong understanding of adiabatic gas expansion, including implementation of relevant thermodynamic equations and boundary conditions in simulations.
Validation and Verification: Experience validating CFD models against experimental data to ensure reliability and accuracy.
Post-Processing and Analysis: Competence in post-processing simulation data to derive insights, such as velocity fields, temperature distributions, and concentration profiles.
Flow Dynamics in gas mixture-based systems: Expertise in simulating flow dynamics in gas mixture systems, including the effects of thermal convection and buoyancy on laser performance.
Stability Analysis: Ability to analyze the stability and performance of molecular gaseous beams under varying operational conditions using CFD tools.
Parameter Optimization : Skilled in optimizing gas flow parameters for a given 3D-CAD design and improve performance through CFD simulations.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including specifications, design reports, and technical presentations relevant to the nuclear industry.
Machine Shop interfacing: Interface with machine shops to bring 3D-CAD designs to reality, knowledge in CNC machining, 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing highly desirable.
