Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development, integration, and validation of advanced power generation systems. This critical position involves executing product designs in alignment with sound engineering principles and adhering to organizational standards, procedures, and project requirements. The role spans mechanical and/or electrical engineering across various product lines.


***Candidates must sit in either Austin, TX or the Cincinnati, OH area and be open to a hybrid schedule***


Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of hardware components and subsystems, ensuring performance, durability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, weight, and validation requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with design, electrical, software, and performance teams to develop robust designs.
  • Conduct technical reviews to present findings and propose solutions for identified challenges, facilitating trade-off discussions and engineering decisions.
  • Build, test, and validate prototypes early and frequently to identify and resolve design flaws.
  • Review design prints to ensure tolerances, processes, and material specifications align with internal product design guidelines.
  • Assist in identifying and selecting suppliers to support prototype and production needs.
  • Support procurement processes and assist in sourcing hardware from suppliers as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support business objectives.


Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
  • 10–15 years of engineering experience with a proven track record in designing and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or medical device industries preferred.


Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Expertise in fluid and thermal systems design and optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in NX 3D CAD software, including creating 2D drawings with GD&T.
  • Experience with structural and thermal FEA tools such as ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, including motors, inverters, and batteries, is a plus.
  • Collaborative personality with the ability to adapt and work effectively across cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience in lab testing environments, including the installation, calibration, and operation of instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, strain, acceleration, etc.
  • Strong ability to design and troubleshoot complex mechanical and thermal systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring timely follow-through.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, numeracy, and spatial awareness.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
