We are looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to join our team and support critical scheduling and project control efforts on large-scale transportation and transit initiatives.
Position Overview
The Project Controls Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects. This role involves overseeing program and project-level schedules, performance metrics, budgets, and risk management to maintain control over scope, timelines, and costs. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to drive efficiency and ensure project objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules and milestones using tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure schedule alignment and identify critical path activities.
- Cost Control:
- Monitor project budgets, expenses, and forecasts to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with financial goals.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to mitigate financial risks.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and analyze project risks; implement mitigation plans to address potential impacts on scope, budget, or schedule.
- Prepare risk registers and maintain continuous risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Develop and track KPIs to measure project performance.
- Prepare comprehensive project control reports, including earned value analysis, for stakeholders and leadership.
- Project Controls Leadership:
- Serve as the point of contact for project controls-related matters.
- Present status updates, dashboards, and financial summaries to clients and senior management.
- Provide leadership to a team of project controls or project management office (PMO) professionals.
- Tool Implementation & Maintenance:
- Utilize and maintain project control systems (e.g., Primavera, Deltek, or custom software solutions).
- Recommend process improvements and tools to enhance project efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project controls with an emphasis on program and project scheduling, preferably within transit/transportation projects.
- Expertise in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Deltek, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and contract management.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and data visualization.
- PMP or AACE certification is a plus.
- Business Development/Client Relations experience desired.
