About the Team:

Join the Base Hardware Team, where we deliver cutting-edge computing, logging, power and other hardware components that are rigorously tested and validated for Torc's autonomous driving trucks. Your role will make a significant impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer (RF) who is enthusiastic about thriving in a hands-on environment and ready to grow with the team.


About the Role:

The Senior Hardware Engineer (RF) on the Base Hardware team will be responsible for authoring, maintaining and analyzing technical RF requirements, and working across the product lifecycle to ensure stakeholder alignment and successful test/validation of the hardware components.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop test plans for RF compliance to industry standards such as CISPR 25 and FCC.
  • Collaborate with automotive Tier-1 suppliers to certify automotive components and removing technical blockers as the projects progresses.
  • Partner with the Component Enablement team to execute the relevant hardware component tests with respect to RF.
  • Collaborate with Component Enablement team to troubleshoot EMI/EMC issues.
  • Perform problem-solving activities during design, prototype and production, driving root-cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports related to the above.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and 6+ years experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 3+ years experience.


What You'll need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and 6+ years experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 3+ years experience.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experienced with HFSS or other HF simulation software for EMC/EMI, SI and Antenna Simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with CISPR25 and FCC standards.
  • Experience with Cellular, WiFi and GPS.
  • Experience with troubleshooting RF emissions.
  • Experience writing test plans for automotive electronic components.
  • Familiarity or experience with data buses such as CAN, PCIe, Ethernet, or other Automotive standards.
  • Experience with high speed signaling and signal integrity.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Experience with VNA and Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Willingness and ability to work across teams, geographies and time zones.


Bonus Points:

  • Automotive Tier-1 supplier experience or working in a similar environment.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 standards, ASPICE, cybersecurity, or autonomous vehicles.
  • Knowledge or experience in safety-critical systems and applications.
  • Direct experience as an ECU development engineer.
  • Experience with high speed signals on PCBs such as PCIe, and Ethernet, DDR2 memory.
  • Experience with EMC issues from electronic components and power.
  • C, C++, Python programming experience.
  • DOORS and Jama traceability software experience.
