Job Summary:
- This role reports to the R&D Manager and is in Lake Mary, FL.
- As an R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for research, design and implement design solutions for ANSI medium voltage circuit breakers and ANSI medium voltage switchgear technologies or other products and equipment for the client.
Day-to-Day:
- Work with team on multiple projects within schedule, design specifications and budget restrictions.
- Support new product development and throughout the product lifecycle.
- Explore current and future technologies during the development process.
- Execute product development including design, testing, analysis, root cause and certification.
- Develop and document test protocols in support of the test plan.
- Coordinate with third-party agencies (UL, CSA, etc.) for conformance tests.
- Create necessary documentation for third-party qualifications.
- Participate as a team member to apply knowledge to continuous improvement of R&D activities.
- Ensures alignment with JST goals for time, cost & scope and independently coordinates activities.
- Actively participate and represent JST in IEEE standard committee meetings as required.
- Participate constructively in working teams to ensure timely and high-quality results.
- Maintain solid documentation skills and writes technical reports independently.
- Lead validation test program and plan for internal resources in support of testing.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Min. 3-5 years of experience in design of ANSI medium voltage electrical products.
- Experience designing indoor and outdoor medium voltage products.
- Basic knowledge of medium voltage circuit breaker and switchgear.
- Knowledge of mechanical motion.
- Experience with SolidWorks and PLM system.
- Experience with applicable IEEE, UL & CSA standards.
- Advanced knowledge and practice with testing requirements per applicable IEEE standards.
- Ability to work with and support cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of power test equipment and measurement instrumentation.
