Job Title: Final Assembly Technician
Location: Cave City, KY 42127
Pay: $23.00 - $33.00 per hour (+ benefits & traveling premium)
Job Summary
The Final Assembly Technician is responsible for interpreting blueprints and instructions to assemble parts and products to specifications. This role requires proficiency with various electrical and mechanical hand tools, the ability to install wiring and field devices, troubleshoot electrical problems, and collaborate with engineering and project managers. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, effective troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical blueprints and written instructions to assemble parts or products to required specifications.
- Utilize various electrical and mechanical hand tools such as multimeters, soldering guns, drills, saws, tape measures, laser levels, and hammer drills.
- Mechanically set build lines in final assembly or on-site installations, including leveling and securing.
- Install wireways and air piping as required during assembly.
- Build electrical control enclosures/panels and smaller electrical sub-assemblies.
- Install and wire field devices onto mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all electrical wiring and components are properly labeled per blueprint specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and perform repairs after equipment start-up.
- Assist with planning and implementing electrical upgrades, installations, and modifications.
- Run conduit for equipment upgrades and installations.
- Troubleshoot and recommend solutions for process logic issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and project managers to test equipment and address any issues.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of electromechanical system designs and development.
- Travel to job sites for equipment installation, production start-up, service, or warranty work.
- Be available to travel on short notice.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics.
- Experience in panel building.
- Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming.
- Ability to troubleshoot systems up to 480V.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet tools.
- Understanding of electrical control system design and electromechanical system layouts.
- Knowledge of NEC codes and their application to circuits and fusing.
- Mathematical proficiency, including the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret graphs and charts.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
- Problem-solving skills for handling multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with coworkers, customers, vendors, and other associates.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Skills in downloading and verifying PLC programs, setting up I/O chassis, and configuring drive parameters.
- Experience modifying existing programs and writing I/O link parameters.
Education and Experience
- A 2- or 4-year technical degree is preferred (equivalent experience may be considered).
- At least 5 years of experience with controls and electrical maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with controls, servo motors, servo drives, and variable frequency drives.
- Networking experience is a plus.
