Summary
The Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for direct activities in the manufacturing facility or with suppliers and co-packers to ensure compliance with FDA, Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures and HACCP.
Key Activities
-
- Conduct Quality Control testing
- Perform and record all monthly audits (GMP, Glass and Brittle Plastics,
- etc.)
- Achieve Food Safety & Quality Objectives and Food Safety & Quality Culture Plan
- Manage internal, third party audits, customer and regulatory audits .
- Lead resolution of customer complaints, corrective and preventative actions . Review and approve batch reports
- Responsible for Allergen Control Program
- Responsible for Food Defense and Food Fraud Programs
- Maintain Quality Management System
- Environmental sampling and testing of air, water and food contact surfaces
- Complete employee training for all food safety programs
- Monitor effectiveness of Sanitation Program
- Manage Foreign Material Control Program
- Document Control including maintaining all SOP's, specification and other documentation
- Supplier Approval Management Program
- Raw Material and HACCP risk analysis
- Responsible for being kept informed of scientific and technical documents, industry codes of practice, food fraud risks and state/country regulations where product is manufactured and/or sold
- Maintain FSMA Program.
Preferred Skills
- Good problem solving, verbal and communication skills, excellent analytical and decision- making abilities
- Able to follow directions and multi-task efficiently.
Educations & Experience
- Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Food Science and/or related field including biology and food microbiology.
- Previous food processing within a Quality/Operations environment.
- HACCP certified.
- FSMA PCQI certified.
- GFSI BRC experience.
