Description The Human Resource Coordinator provides assistance to the human resource department for five (5) County Human Service Agencies within Luzerne/Wyoming Counties.
This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits related problems and ensures effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. The human resource coordinator ensures plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to human resources function as needed including record keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - * Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
- Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains that they are current
- Submits the online investigation requests and assists with new employee background checks
- * Reconciles benefits statements
- Assists with the onboarding process
- Assists with the processing of terminations, promotions, and hirings
- Assists with the tracking of the performance reviews
- Tracks the status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow up letters at the end of the recruiting process
- Makes photocopies, faxes documents, and performs other clerical functions
- Provides administrative support to the department
- Assists or prepares correspondence
- Prepares and maintains employee files
- Processes the mail
- * Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of the Federal and State employment/compliance laws and practices
- Basic knowledge of job boards
- Exhibits a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task in a busy and often challenging environment
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with clients and team members
- Exceptional detail orientation and organization skills (with strong sense of urgency and follow up/follow through)
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills specifically in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors degree in HR/Business or related field; OR Minimum of one to two years related HR support and/or experience; OR equivalent work experience.

IV. Life Insurance A $50,000 life insurance policy is afforded to full-time employees, unless specified differently in a collective bargaining agreement. It remains in effect as long as the employee is actively employed and terminates upon resignation or retirement.
V. Retirement All full-time employees and part-time employees working more than 1,000 hours per year qualify for Luzerne County retirement benefits, in which employees must contribute 5% of their earnings, and may choose to add to an additional voluntary contribution, not to exceed an additional 10%.
