Job Summary
Human Resources Assistant
Health Sciences High and Middle College is a grades 9-12 Charter High School in City Heights, San Diego.
Job Purpose:
Support the Human Resources department by assisting in a variety of administrative, clerical, and organizational tasks. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of HR processes and administrative procedures, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to ensuring smooth HR operations.
Education-Based Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
•Minimum of 1 year of experience in Human Resources or related work.
•CPR Certification (preferred but not required).
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •Maintain HR compliance by ensuring employee documentation aligns with organizational policies and legal requirements.
•Facilitate communication between employees and HR leadership to address concerns or provide guidance on policies and procedures.
•Coordinate and manage logistics for employee training, professional development sessions, and staff meetings.
•Process payroll changes, track attendance, and assist with leave management processes.
•Perform clerical duties such as preparing correspondence, filing, organizing mail, and managing HR supplies.
•Contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and encouraging employee engagement.
•Assist with other HR projects and duties as assigned.
Other functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:
•Demonstrate professionalism and a proactive approach in all interactions with staff and stakeholders.
•Actively engage in professional development opportunities to stay updated on HR trends and practices.
•Support organizational activities and events, such as employee recognition programs or team-building initiatives.
Working Conditions (Physical Requirements and Environment):
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move items.
