Job Description

Crybaby is a 500-capacity music venue in downtown Oakland, with a new 1,000-capacity sister venue, Ceremony, opening in March of this year . We are seeking qualified Stage Managers to join our production team at Ceremony. Stage Managers will be responsible for overseeing stage operations, coordinating with artists and production teams on-site, and ensuring the smooth execution of live performances and events. This is a part-time, as-needed position , ideal for someone with a flexible schedule who is committed to working weekends and select event nights.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for artists, tour managers, and production crews during events.
  • Oversee stage operations, ensuring efficient load-in, soundcheck, show execution, and load-out.
  • Coordinate with lighting, audio, and stage crews to execute event production needs.
  • Maintain clear communication between artists, venue staff, and production teams to ensure smooth show flow.
  • Manage stage setups, ensuring proper placement of equipment, instruments, and backline.
  • Monitor stage safety, ensuring all equipment is properly secured and operational.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or logistical issues during live events.
  • Maintain and update stage plots, input lists, and tech riders for upcoming shows.
  • Ensure adherence to venue policies, sound ordinances, and safety regulations.
  • Assist with changeovers between acts, ensuring timely transitions and efficient stage resets.
  • Provide post-show reports detailing stage operations, technical issues, and areas for improvement.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Stage Manager, Backline Tech, or related role in a live music venue or touring environment.
  • Strong knowledge of stage production workflows , including backline, audio, and lighting coordination.
  • Ability to troubleshoot stage and technical issues under pressure.
  • Experience working with touring artists, production teams, and venue staff .
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to keep shows running on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to coordinate between various departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment , including long hours and late nights.
  • Comfortable working with heavy equipment and in physically demanding conditions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in mid-to-large-scale venues or festivals .
  • Knowledge of backline setups, audio patching, and lighting integration .
  • Familiarity with safety protocols for live events, including rigging and electrical safety .


Compensation:

  • Final hourly rate to be based on skills and experience.
