Position Summary
"Responsible and conscientious, after training, will work independently to provide care of zebrafish in accordance with established regulations and protocols on the use of laboratory animals in biomedical research.
Maintain zebrafish health-Provide daily feedings and fish health checks, monitor water flow to tanks, water levels within each tank to ensure no clogged baffles or drain spouts and overall tank cleanliness.
Maintain operation of the Aquaneering system-Performance checks and quality control on the system (temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite levels, conductivity), monitor carbon filters and carbon filter sleeves and clean/replace as needed. Ensure the system for each rack is clean and operating correctly.
Maintain the zebrafish facility-Keep the facility tidy and usable
Minimum time expectations: 2-4 hours/day, split between a morning shift and an afternoon shift with ~1 weekend a month to cover weekend feedings within the feeding rotation schedule across all zebrafish labs. Attend weekly fish meeting with the zebrafish core staff."
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to help out with weekend feedings
  • Excellent communication skills with zebrafish core staff (director, co-directors, vet, and ARF staff) as well as the rest of the zebrafish users and labs.
  • Preferred work study but not required.
  • Must love fish
