Job Description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a 3rd Shift Electronics Technician Specialist to join a leading Company located in the Kinston, NC surrounding area.
The purpose of this position is to provide for the efficient and continuous operation of all plant systems and equipment with as little downtime as possible. This individual will install, service, troubleshoot, and repair all electronic and electrical controls and equipment and work closely with other maintenance personnel on their shift. This person will be responsible for all necessary paperwork and documentation of calibrations sheets, scale certification sheets, PM documentation, etc. as they relate to the job. This person will also provide technical assistance to trainees in all crafts as needed in the day-to-day operation of the plant.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes assigned projects and tasks involving the implementation of design changes or system improvements associated with equipment controls of processing, chemical treatment, boiler, water, refrigeration and other electrical and electronic systems.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance and calibration procedures for all plant process control systems.
  • Gives technical assistance to other electronics technicians and electricians using procedures and evaluates the results achieved.
  • Assists in continuously reviewing strategies to maximize plant efficiency, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Assists in developing and carrying out performance tests on equipment and interpreting results.
  • Performs research and investigation of equipment failures or other chronic problems in order to develop and recommend solutions concerning plant equipment.
  • Coordinates the operational testing and verification of quality and quantity of newly acquired equipment in order to make recommendations concerning the equipment acceptance.
  • Keeps abreast of processing plant engineering techniques and technologies, and research and develop expansions of control systems, with emphasis on logistics, economy and service.
  • Reviews and provides recommendations about practices, procedures, system requirements or improvements in order to facilitate maintenance schedules and short or long range plans.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they may arise in the plant equipment or systems and repair the equipment to prevent the reoccurrence of these problems in the future.
  • Trains trainees and assists in developing the skills they need for their role.
  • Gives input as to spare parts for inventory in the plant maintenance parts room as needed.
  • Assists in the pre-operational testing and start-up as required to place plant equipment into normal service.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation from an accredited technical or community college and 2 years experience as an Electronics Technician or Instrumentation Technician, preferably in an industrial/meat processing setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of plant systems and equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronics and electrical theory.
  • Working knowledge of PLC's, ladder logic, and associated hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of motor control systems.
  • Working knowledge of inverters and frequency drives to include setup and configuration.
  • Knowledge of plant procedures, including H.A.C.C.P. lockout/tagout, etc.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of valve controls.
  • Working knowledge of RTDs, thermocouples, and other temperature measurement devices. Comprehensive knowledge of field wiring and terminations as they relate to electronics.
  • Ability to use test equipment, light-duty equipment, and tools.
  • Comprehension of complex electrical and electronic wiring diagrams and control schematics.
  • Working knowledge of robotics and controls is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the following test equipment: Volt/Ohm/Amp. Meter, Mgge, Oscilloscope, Current Source Calibrator, Thermocouple, and RTD Calibrators.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
