Description
Sycamore Services is looking for Speech Therapists to make a difference in others' lives and your own by playing a crucial role in enhancing communication and quality of life for individuals with speech and language challenges.

Reports To : Director of Healthcare Admin and Director of Rehab Services
Location : Indiana
Purpose :

  • Assist individuals in expressing themselves clearly and confidently, which is essential for social interaction and academic success.
  • Educate clients and their families about communication disorders, equipping them with strategies to support progress at home and in daily life.
  • Based on assessments, create individualized treatment plans that address specific needs and goals, ensuring that therapy is relevant and effective.
Responsibilities :
  • Performs a wide variety of speech and language therapy consultations, evaluations, assessments, and other related services for infants and toddlers referred to the First Steps program.
  • Maintains detailed records, analyzes client data, and prepares assessment reports with appropriate treatment plans as required.
  • Conducts direct individual therapy sessions with toddlers/infants, including instructing, motivating, and assisting in performing various language activities.
  • Use effective communication skills to build rapport and channels of communication by recognizing and adapting to the range of individual communication styles.
  • Operates a motor vehicle for various functions, such as visiting client homes, attending conferences, performing assessments, consultations, and conducting therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, doctors, occupational therapists, and other specialists to ensure an appropriate approach to treatment and support for the patient.
  • Help patients improve their ability to produce speech sounds accurately.
  • Work on enhancing vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall language skills.
  • Utilize techniques to manage stuttering, including strategies for smoother speech.
  • Develop individualized therapy plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Supports & Instruction :
  • Incorporating assistive technology, such as speech-generating devices, apps, and software that facilitate communication.
  • Providing activities and exercises that clients can practice at home to reinforce skills learned in therapy.
  • Providing a safe, encouraging environment for clients to express their feelings and frustrations related to their communication challenges.
Requirements
Must be enrolled or be able to be enrolled in the First Steps Systems with the following qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology and possession of or ability to obtain a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Pathology from the State of Indiana.
  • Experience working with developmentally delayed/at-risk children.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Ability to keep accurate documentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to make practical application of theories and methods in testing and evaluating speech and language skills of developmentally delayed/at-risk children.
  • Working knowledge of Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) guidelines.
  • Ability to develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives to address individual fine motor and self-help needs.
  • Good vision for reading materials and observing clients' non-verbal cues.
  • Ability to attend and conduct in-service training programs and provide consultations.
  • Must have effective transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a non-standard flexible schedule.
Physical Requirements :
  • Ability to follow all personnel policies and rules of the agency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information as required.
  • Ability to move around various settings, such as schools, clinics, or patients' homes.
  • Skills for using tools and equipment, such as microphones or assessment materials.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during therapy sessions.
  • Adequate hearing ability to assess and treat speech and communication disorders.
