We are currently working with a clinical-stage biotechnology company that are developing a novel antibody as a therapeutic for chronic mast and stem cell diseases. This client is currently conducting clinical studies as a treatment in patients with CSU or with CIndU and is initiating a clinical study in patients with asthma.
Role Description:
Looking for an Associate Scientist to join the client's preclinical in vivo pharmacology team. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and executing high-throughput cell-based assays and in vivo proof-of-concept experiments. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on laboratory skills and a thorough understanding of scientific principles, experimental precision, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently execute a variety of in vitro high-throughput cell-based functional assays and in vivo animal studies, adhering to project timelines and objectives
- Contribute to IND-enabling preclinical studies, including in-house assay development, maintenance of multiple cell lines, and investigation of proof-of-concept in vivo models
- Design and optimize new study protocols with general guidance and execute experiments independently
- Analyze and interpret scientific results with general supervision, providing timely answers to key scientific questions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams supporting data analysis and contributing to both internal and external scientific discussions
- Present findings at individual, project, and department meetings, and draft detailed scientific reports.
- Maintain thorough records of experimental designs, procedures, and results
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and instrumentation issues with guidance as needed
- Manage lab reagent inventory and ensure timely ordering of supplies
- Coordinate and prioritize tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating effective planning and organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Immunology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience in academia or industry, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred
- Extensive experience with FACS and multi-color flow cytometry, including panel design and data analysis, is essential. Proficiency in tissue cell isolation and experience with single-cell RNA sequencing are highly desirable
- Proficiency with high-throughput cell-based functional assays and MSD platforms is strongly preferred
- Experience in development animal models is an advantage
- Proficiency in aseptic mammalian cell culture techniques is required, with additional experience in hematopoietic stem cell and primary immune cell culture considered an advantage
