Role: Sourcing & Purchasing Manager

Industry: Architectural Woodwork / Millwork

Locations: Washington DC


What You’ll Do

As our Sourcing & Purchasing Manager, you’ll play a critical role in optimizing our procurement strategies, supporting seamless operations, and driving business growth. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying, developing, and managing relationships with industry partners and suppliers.
  • Exploring new materials, vendors, and methods to improve cost efficiency and service quality.
  • Ensuring optimal inventory levels to balance on-time delivery and inventory turnover.
  • Researching innovative materials to enhance our offerings.
  • Tracking and reporting on key purchasing metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Estimators to secure projects through sample submissions and project communications.
  • Supporting the production team with equipment sourcing to minimize downtime.
  • Analyzing market trends and supply chain dynamics to predict and manage material availability.
  • Preparing and managing purchase orders and vendor contracts.
  • Leading supplier negotiations and resolving any vendor-related issues.
  • Acting as a thought leader in sourcing strategies and supply chain innovation.


What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional certifications (APICS – CPIM, CSCP, CPP, CPPM) are a plus.
  • More than 5 years of purchasing experience, including 2+ years in made-to-order manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or related software).
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven negotiation, interpersonal, and customer service expertise.
  • Strong organizational skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
  • Outstanding time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • A creative, analytical mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • LEED, FSC, DC Green, submittal experience a plus.
