Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Senior Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and system design, with extensive experience in the refining, chemical, power, pharmaceutical or other heavy process industries. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and innovative projects while contributing to our company's growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Team with project managers and engineers to develop high-quality design concepts and installation packages.
- Establish project deliverable milestones in coordination with the project manager.
- Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation in accordance with project scope and specifications.
- Ensure QA/QC of project documents to maintain high engineering standards.
- Conduct site visits to survey existing conditions, gather project requirements, and effectively communicate findings to the design team.
- Ensure compliance with client standards, industry codes, and regulations (e.g., ISA, NEC, NEMA, IEEE).
- Analyze and evaluate design options to achieve project goals related to functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Review and modify designs to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.
- Provide technical support and resolve design and construction issues.
- Participate in feasibility studies and cost estimation for proposed projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls design.
- Expertise in:
- P&ID development and related instrumentation drawings.
- Field junction box and marshalling cabinet layouts with associated wiring diagrams.
- Control panel and PLC panel layouts, electrical elementary diagrams, and loop diagrams.
- Installation of field instrumentation, including electrical, conduit, cable, tubing, and piping.
- Low voltage (600V and below) electrical design concepts.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a small team of designers throughout project execution.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microstation, or Civil 3D for design and drafting.
- Familiarity with ISA, NEC, NEMA, and IEEE standards.
- Working knowledge of instrument installation, tubing connections, and mounting practices.
