Summary

To enhance our primary focus of developing innovative and high-quality refrigeration products for the US and Canada markets, we are seeking a creative, motivated, and energetic Electrical Engineer to create, design, and lead engineering projects. The primary expectation is the execution of projects resulting in unique, innovative and compelling new features for Midea branded refrigeration products. This is a full-time position. Some international travel is required including minimum once per year trip to China.


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the research and development of North American Refrigerator Products, including electrical and mechanical component design, and embedded control systems hardware and software/firmware, feature development, collaboration, and the establishment of plan of actions and milestone tracking.
  • Complete design and development of new product functional parts as required.
  • Develop technology to expand intellectual property portfolio for Refrigerator Products.
  • Work to improve lab testing capabilities and guide team on improved processes to ensure test reproducibility and repeatability.
  • Architect control systems leveraging existing appliance controls and develop or modify embedded C/C++ code to control new appliance features.
  • Research the fields of sensors, controls, and electronics technology and organize technical research on key core technologies.
  • Actively participate in technical project reviews and innovation research projects.
  • Cooperate cross-functionally with various internal, external, and international engineering teams to jointly carry out project work.
  • Collaborate with project managers and Refrigeration R&D team to create multi-generational technical plan roadmaps.
  • Derive detailed root cause analyses and develop both design and quality improvement projects based on field returns of Refrigerator Products.
  • Provide expert level of analysis on field returns and provide timely reports and updates to overseas R&D team and North American Refrigeration leadership.
  • Implement projects and special tasks as needed.


Required Education and Experience:

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent; Master’s preferred.


Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of refrigeration experience working with electronics in product development or innovation.
  • Experience with electromechanical components: solenoids, motors, heaters, relays, sensors, etc.
  • Experience with electronics: analog, digital, power supply, inverter, display, etc.
  • Familiar with circuit simulation, PCB schematic tools, electronics assembly and testing, electronics analysis tools (meters, oscilloscopes, function generators).
  • Experience working with C/C++ (or similar) and CPU platforms: Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi.
  • Familiar with serial communications, code management, and networking.
  • Familiarity with patent process and technology trends in refrigeration.
